I’m Kate. I’m a designer

For over 20 years, I have been obsessively collecting photographs of signs that help us navigate ordinary situations. When I started taking these pictures, I was on a mission to document how a bad design left open the need for someone to come in and “fix” it. But I’ve come to appreciate the signs as part of the design - the most important part, in fact. The part that makes something functional and useable! Cheers to the sign makers who make life a tiny bit easier.

When I’m not out taking pictures of signs, I teach design at UT Austin and am co-founder of design practice TWOxTWO.
